On a unique site on the corner of a park in Borough, this proposed development is for a new GP surgery with 39 dwellings above and public connections through to the park. The building grows from 4 to 8-storeys at its highest point to respond to the immediate context of the surrounding buildings. The façade design is being developed to give a play of light dancing up the elevations from behind the trees in the newly regenerated park.
The surgery at ground and first floor level is being designed to meet twice the patient numbers of the existing surgery, and to maximise health & well-being through the spatial design, use of materials and connections through to the park. Of the 39 new dwellings, 41% are proposed as affordable housing. All residents of the development will have access to two roof-tops terraces which overlook the park and have views towards the Shard.
The proposal is currently in early stages of design and aiming to be submitted into planning in spring/summer 2020.
Public consultation is being carried out for this project – view the documents here.
