Listed farm house conversion

Completed in 2018 – the conversion of listed agricultural buildings to form a sustainable home. Set on a spacious site in Yorkshire, a cluster of listed farm buildings have been lovingly restored to create a new family home. The existing barns are linked with new interventions including frameless glass links and a ‘floating’, weathering steel clad extension. A mix of traditional building methods and off-site manufacturing were brought together successfully to achieve a material-rich, contemporary aesthetic which works sympathetically with the historic buildings. The beautiful palette and bespoke details come together to form a creative, welcoming family home with intimate living spaces and flexible entertaining areas.  The finished buildings are highly insulated, incorporating passive principles and benefiting from a biomass boiler, fuel for which is being grown on site for future use.

This project was featured in the October 2018 issue of Living North magazine – check it out here.
